Open in 1960, the long tradition of academic excellence extends to today where Granite Hills High School was recognized as a California Distinguished School, as well as one of the “Best High Schools in the United States” by US News & World Report. Granite Hills High School was also named “One of the Most Challenging High Schools” by the Washington Post. Keeping pace with the academic successes, Granite Hills High School has an accomplished athletics program having won six league titles in 2017 (Football, Girls Tennis, Boys Basketball, Softball, Boys Track and Boys Tennis). Granite Hills High School in the East San Diego County community of El Cajon is acclaimed for its academic prowess as well as its athletic program's success on the field. The stadium at Granite Hills High School includes an artificial turf football field surrounded by an all- weather, 9 lane track. The track includes two large aprons with jump and vault pits and a throwing field to the south of the stadium. The stadium is lighted with bleacher seating on both the east and west sides of the venue and an electronic scoreboard. There is additional field space beyond the stadium perimeter, making the Granite Hills High School Stadium an excellent venue choice for single game, tournaments or league field sports (soccer, flag football, lacrosse, field hockey, rugby, etc).
